The Problem

BT is one of the world’s leading communications service providers, catering for customers in the UK and more than 170 countries.

In an attempt to showcase the work it does, BT created an ‘Innovation Showcase’ at its Adastral Park R&D centre in the UK. However, due to its substantial scale (over 1,000 metres square), BT encountered logistical and economic problems when it came to replicating the experience for clients around the world, including Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong and the USA.

It needed to find a solution that would allow it to connect with its customers without compromising the great work they had already done.

The Solution

Due to the sheer physical scale of the showcase an alternative solution was required. After assessing BT’s needs, we proposed creating a complete and complex online environment, using 3D technology, that could be deployed on a wide variety of devices, including tablets and big screens, allowing for detailed drill-down and interactive interrogation.

The work involved the translation of all the services that BT offer by market, from hospitals and pharmaceutical industries to governmental clients.

The virtual showcase solution enabled BT to push content out to users, control content distribution and push changes live in real time, offering its clients a ‘live action’ view of the showcase with content available to all from a virtual platform.

To measure the effectiveness of the Showcase content, the solution also allowed BT to collect analytics on areas such as usage, downloads, clicked content, content popularity and app usage.
